What to expect at a colonic hydrotherapy session
An initial consult starts with a brief discussion of medical history, diet and lifestyle before being introduced to the colonic procedure.
You are asked to strip all clothing from the waist down and lie face up on a bed with a towel draped over your lower half. We do a small meditation with peppermint oil to centre and calm the nerves and then you are asked to roll onto your side while the speculum is inserted into your rectum.
After rolling back onto your back and your legs lying flat we slowly introduce warm water (drip fed) into the colon. As a therapist, it is my job to make sure the water is introduced at a pace that is comfortable for you to handle as well as assess for the pressure that can sometimes build-up behind gas and hard faecal matter. I am with you the entire time doing abdominal massage and coaching through any concerns.
As we work with a closed system, you are able to see (if you choose) what has built up in your colon over time. It can certainly be a snapshot of what foods don’t agree with you, how dehydrated you are, whether you have candida, parasites or not breaking down your food properly. This is also an opportunity for me to coach you through diet and lifestyle choices you may need to change to improve your colon health.
The procedure from start to finish takes approximately 1 hour and depending on each individual you can be on the machine anything between 30 and 40 minutes. It is advised as a new client that 3 is needed to see any real change to your colon health. It is then up to the individual and their health concerns after that how often they may need to return. I normally find with clients that they may need 1 a month for a few months and then ideally working to a maintenance visit once every 3 months.
What I have found most interesting about the procedure is the shift in my clients, not only in their physical health but also emotionally and energetically. It can certainly shift energy that has been lying stagnant when you clean out your colon!!!
